Complex of the University of Naples Studies in the former district of ex Cirio – S. Giovanni a Teduccio – Naples

The university complex is designed to re-qualify the surrounding urban environment and trigger improvement processes. Buildings along the perimeter of the partially framed area of historic urban insulations are articulated inwardly into an integrated open space system and volumes organized to provide ample circulation and visual permeability. The space sequence gradually introduces the user to the large public park in the central part of the area, where the buildings are articulated to create a sequence of passages, squares, terraces and porches connected to each other: the bodies act as a backdrop on which the natural elements of the park or frames are removed, within which the urban fabric is framed.
